The direct answer
Cost per lead measures the price of an enquiry. Cost per new customer depends on how many enquiries qualify, book, attend and buy. Track the full chain over one consistent period before calling a lead campaign successful.
The campaign ends. The commercial journey continues.
An enquiry may be curious, outside your service area, unable to afford the work or simply difficult to reach. Counting every enquiry as a sales opportunity conceals the gap between platform results and useful conversations.
Define qualification before measuring it. For Blaze, a booked appointment and a qualified customer are different outcomes. The CRM needs separate stages and recorded reasons for loss.
One illustration, five stages.
R5,000 advertising spend produces 100 enquiries. If 50% qualify, 50 remain. If 40% of those book, you get 20 appointments. At 80% attendance, 16 attend. At a 25% close rate, four become customers.
Advertising acquisition cost is R1,250 per customer, not the R50 cost per raw enquiry. At a R10,000 average sale value, modelled sales value is R40,000. That is revenue before service delivery and other operating costs.
A better handoff can change the same leads.
In the same illustration, moving the qualified-enquiry booking rate from 40% to 60% yields 30 bookings, 24 attended appointments and six expected customers, with the other rates held fixed.
The model shows the consequence of an assumption. It does not prove a new reminder or faster reply will deliver it. Review actual response times, availability, offer expectations and missed-call reasons to choose the first change.
Let bidding learn from the right outcome.
Keep form submissions, confirmed bookings, attended calls and signed customers distinct in reporting. A click on a booking button is not a confirmed appointment. A native lead form is not automatically a qualified customer.
Reconcile the platform event with the calendar and CRM record. Improve campaign optimisation only when the event represents what the business needs and the measurement is trustworthy.

Questions worth answering
How is advertising cost per customer calculated?
Advertising spend divided by new customers over the same period. This excludes staff time and other acquisition costs unless separately added.
Which rate should I improve first?
Investigate the largest evidenced loss in the chain. A calculator cannot identify the cause without actual CRM and customer evidence.
The ad is part of the job. The journey is the job.
